This is the UL Level III Ballistic Clipboard (stops all rounds up to and including 44 magnum, see the "What is it" page for specific foot pounds of force stats). The NIJ Level IIIA looks the same except it has square corners, not cut off like the one in the photo. 9"x12"x1/2". It weighs 3 pounds 11 ounces. It covers your face.  It will stop over 90% of the handgun bullets shot at officers.

We added a handle (suggested by Mark who writes his reports on a 13x16 UL Level I Ballistic Clipboard while he sits in his cruiser) so an officer can throw it up quickly and surprise his/her adversary. "Andy the Ogre" ~ Suggested by a customer in California who wanted something big and serious enough to cover a lot of territory. It is UL Level III Ballistic Clipboard. It measures 13"x16"x1/2" and weighs in at about 7 pounds. With "Andy the Ogre" you can push through some situations without agressive physical contact. However, the handle is strong enough if you need to swing it. It, of course, stops knife points and knife edges.

They fit in your vest, shirt or jacket pockets and will fit your hip pockets if you feel the need to cover your a**! At the gun show in '07 I had a Father try to impress his Son by trying to drive a hunting knife through one of my UL Level I Trauma Plates I had at that show. After four "powerful" overhand thrusts at the plate lying flat on the table he gave up. This UL Level III Trauma Plate is twice as thick.
