Basically there are three of us that make up Ballistic Clipboard LLC: me, Bill, and my wife, Veronica and daughter, Caroline, who is the model in the photos. We are in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia where we make and ship our boards.
We started making boards in 2007 after my wife was threatened by a student (and her gang) which she was teaching. We looked around for material and found that ballistic fiberglass was effective and not as expensive as other materials. We found Waco Composites who was able to supply us with the raw fiberglass boards which we then turned into clipboards. We started with UL Level I material which stops a 9mm bullet. Our breakfast nook was our beginning (see photo).
In a while, after requests by Police Officers, we started making smaller boards that stop a 44 Magnum (see photo).
The rest, as they say, is history. We now have more products and have moved out of the kitchen (see photos).
I enjoy making something which people will buy from me which could possibly save their life. I like our simple web site - it loads fast - and I really don't want to get into advertizers and things which bog down loading. However, I keep getting told that I need to be on facebook, etc. I may try the youtube thing so I can show you a few things. We'll see.
If you have any question please contact me. Thanks, Bill.
